Myrtle Beach Inc. paves information highway to local restaurants

Myrtle Beach, S.C., January 2005 -- Myrtle Beach Inc., an Internet development, research, and consulting firm with headquarters in the Myrtle Beach area, announced today the successful launch of a distinctive community service web site that aids tourists planning their vacations online by allowing them to find more information about the 1700+ restaurants in the Myrtle Beach area.

Director of Operations Warren Walker stated that a market study done by his company confirmed that online web surfers and local restaurants would both benefit from a comprehensive restaurant directory with local restaurant information and user-submitted reviews and ratings.

Walker added that plans for the comprehensive site began in 1999, when one of his company's regional portals for North Myrtle Beach received dozens of emails asking for more information on the local restaurants. His development team spent the last several months finalizing design and database issues, and the non-commercial web site, Myrtle Beach Restaurants, launched on December 1, 2004.

Within two weeks of operation, several major search engines, including Google, Inc., spidered and indexed over 700 pages of the web site; and within the first month of operation, more than 100 independent restaurant reviews were submitted by visitors to the site.

"We've been predicting an increase in Internet requests for information on restaurants in Myrtle Beach since 1999, and we're glad that we can now satisfy this need," stated Walker.

Myrtle Beach Inc.'s Restaurant Directory, the largest in the area, is driven by independent user-submitted restaurant reviews and ratings, and promotes only restaurants in Myrtle Beach and the surrounding Grand Strand area, at no charge to the area's 1700+ restaurants.
